Dr. Ratheesh Radhakrishnan is Associate Professor at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Bombay. He has been associated with that department since 2008. He completed his PhD from the Centre for the Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore, on the topic ‘Masculinity & the Structuring of the Public Domain in Kerala: A History of the Contemporary’. From 2010-12, he was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Chao Center for Asian Studies,  William Marsh Rice University (Houston, Texas). He was the Founder Curator of ‘TITLES: Festival of Experimental Films from India’  held at Rice University, and is a member of the selection committee of the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. He has taught at various eminent institutions including the Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College, Kozhikode, Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, the University of Hyderabad, the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) Hyderabad, and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). His research interests encompass Cultural Studies, Feminist Theory, Literary Theory, Film Studies, Regional Literatures and Cultures in India. He has helped define the contours of film studies in Kerala with his articles published in leading scholarly journals like Inter Asia Cultural Studies, Contributions to Indian Sociology, Bioscope: South Asian Screen Studies, positions asia critique, as well as chapters in various academic books and articles in Malayalam weeklies such as Pachakkuthira, Mathrubhumi weekly and Madhyamam weekly. He is the recipient of the prestigious New India Fellowship, 2018, and is currently working on a book about early Malayalam cinema.
