The PG and Research Department of English organised a 2-day international seminar on the topic, “Beyond the Apparatus: Contemporary Perspectives on Malayalam Cinema” in association with the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, on 10-11 March 2023. The seminar was planned as a tribute to Ms. Bindu Amat, Head of the Department of English, who was to retire on 31 March. The first day saw the screening of 3 pathbreaking Malayalam films, while the second day was devoted to academic discussions. The keynote address was delivered by renowned film critic C.S. Venkiteswaran while a plenary address was delivered by Dr. Darshana Sreedhar Mini, University of Wisconsin-Madison. The seminar was coordinated by Dr. Shanthi Vijayan.
